    Description
This alternative and fully independent version of the classic Lost Cities (also known as Explorers) puts players in the role of adventurous archaeologists embarking on dangerous expeditions. Designed by the prolific Reiner Knizia (Tigris & Euphrates, My City, Mille Fiori, and many more), it supports 2 to 5 players, ages 8 and up, with games lasting around 30 minutes. To win, players must score more victory points than their rivals by exploring ancient ruins and collecting valuable artifacts from the past. The game’s title reflects its main mechanic: roll & write. During the game, players roll the 6 dice included in the box and record the results that interest them most on their expedition sheets. The rules are simple and allow players to start immediately, but strategy is key to maximizing points. Each player sheet has 6 colored columns corresponding to three of the dice faces, representing the expeditions. Additionally, 3 nine-sided dice numbered 0 to 9 are rolled to indicate the values to record in the chosen expedition, always in ascending order. For example, if a 3 has already been marked in a column, a 2 or lower cannot be used. Careful planning is essential. On each turn, a different player rolls the dice and chooses two results for themselves. The remaining players may use the other 4 dice or, if none are useful, pass by marking a die symbol on their sheet. However, passing too often can lead to penalties. During expeditions, players may find valuable vases or cross dangerous bridges, earning points at the end of the game along with the distance traveled in each expedition. Recording three, two, or one in an expedition can generate negative points, so careful planning is required. Lost Cities, roll and write is a new version of the classic two-player card game. Now up to 5 players can join, with dice-based mechanics and recording sheets. Its compact format makes it an affordable and fun companion for travel or quick games. Roll the dice and embark on unique expeditions to discover valuable artifacts!
