Paleo: The Initiation Rite DEVIR

The expansion Initiation Rites includes a new 17-card module for the cooperative game Paleo. Designed by Peter Rustemeyer, it supports 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, with an approximate playtime of 60 minutes. In this expansion, a new generation has grown within the prehistoric tribe and their big day has arrived: four candidates must pass a trial to become full members of the group.

Like the rest of the modules in Paleo, Initiation Rites can be combined with any of the 10 card sets included in the base game. In most sessions, only two modules are used, allowing you to adjust the difficulty and create different experiences each game while ensuring high replayability. Each tribe controls its own deck of cards, gradually revealing them with the shared objective of achieving five victory points, represented by a five-piece cave painting. However, if players accumulate 5 skull tokens, they automatically lose.

In Paleo, each player controls a prehistoric tribe made up of warriors, gatherers, explorers, and inventors. The tribes must cooperate to explore their surroundings, gather food, and make discoveries in order to ensure their survival and prosper.

The game unfolds over several rounds, each divided into two phases: day and night. During the day, players will collect resources, craft tools, and face various challenges such as wild animals or hostile tribes. At night, the tribe distributes food and prepares for a new dawn.

Initiation Rites is suitable for both low-difficulty games and more demanding sessions (by removing certain cards from the module). Although it is a cooperative game that encourages agreeing on a shared strategy, every player will have something to contribute, since each one makes decisions with their own deck.
