The art forger Belratti has spent decades using his extraordinary talent to copy paintings. He deceives the art world by appropriating the artistic signature of other painters. Today, Belratti has seen the perfect opportunity to slip his forgeries into a museum. The director Felina, responsible for the museum, wants to expand her modern art collection by adding two more rooms and is looking for paintings. The great painter Owl wants to take charge of painting those works… but Belratti will try to sneak in his masterful forgeries. Will he manage to fool Felina and Owl? That depends on you!
Belratti is a card game created by Michael Loth for 3 to 7 players, ages 8 and up. This edition also features renewed art and design by Vipin Jacob and Gaël Lannurien. Throughout the game, players will take on the roles of director Felina and the famous painter Owl and must cooperate to recognize the forgeries and prevent them from entering the museum. After several rounds, the number of legitimate works that have entered the museum will determine the players’ victory.
Winner of numerous awards and nominations, Belratti is a fantastic game to enjoy with family or groups of friends. During the game, players alternate the roles of director Felina and painter Owl. At the beginning of the round, two theme cards are revealed, the players portraying the director announce a set number of paintings they want for the museum, and then the players controlling the painter play cards from their hand that relate in some way to the two theme cards. Next, the proposed cards are secretly mixed with other cards from the deck that represent Belratti’s forgeries. They are then revealed, and the players acting as the director try to find the legitimate paintings. If they choose any forgeries, those are placed in a separate pile. Once there are 6 or more paintings in the forgery pile, the game ends. If the players have collected 15 or more legitimate paintings in the museum, they win the game.
To aid the players, there are five wildcards that can each be used once per game. They work as special abilities that allow you to replace the theme cards, ask for information about a painting, add fewer forgeries, or refresh the cards. And if the play group wants to adapt the experience, the rulebook offers different variants to adjust the difficulty of the games. Belratti can be tailored to any type of play!
