You are the archon of the city of dreams, where the Incubi (negative and sad dreams) and the Somnio (positive and joyful dreams) have lived for eons as opposing but complementary forces. Your task is to maintain or restore the delicate balance between these dreams: place them in the different districts of the city and use their power so that no group becomes stronger than the other. You must also ensure that Chaos (wild and confusing dreams) does not cause excessive problems and adapts as best as possible to the city.
Urbion is a card game to enjoy solo or with another player in cooperative mode, designed by Shadi Torbey and illustrated by Élise Plessis. This title is part of the Oniverso saga, a thematic universe that includes the games Onirim, Sylvion, and Cyberion. With a hand management mechanic as its core, the goal of Urbion is to claim all city cards. To claim a city card, you must first balance it: a city card is balanced when the sum of the powers of all dream cards beside it, to the left and right, equals zero.
Turns are divided into two phases: play or discard a card and replenish. To play a dream card, just follow 3 basic rules: one of the symbols on the card you want to play must match one of the symbols on a city card in the center of the table. Secondly, Somnio cards (positive value) must be played to the left of the city card, and Incubi cards (negative value) to the right. Finally, no more than 3 dream cards can be on either side of a city card. Easy, right?
Instead of playing a card on the table, you can also discard a dream card to activate an effect: swap or census. Swap allows you to rearrange previously played dream cards, and census lets you remove city cards that are balanced with positive and negative values around them, summing to zero. Finally, in the replenish phase, a new card is added to the hand, except if a chaos card appears, which must be placed in the center of the table or triggers a penalty.
The game ends in victory when all 12 city cards have been balanced, or in defeat if you must draw and there are no cards left in the dream deck. This edition also includes 7 mini-expansions that add variability to your games. Play your positive and negative dream cards wisely around the city, or discard them to activate actions that help you achieve your goal. Ready to restore balance in the city of dreams?
