Match cards by their number or color and try to score as many points as possible with the ones that don’t match! But beware, as you run out of cards in hand, rounds become trickier and your opponents can make you lose points.
Designed by Thomas Weber, Match! can be played in pairs or with up to 6 players, ages 8 and up, in games lasting around 20 minutes.
The objective is to accumulate points round after round until reaching 50. With matching mechanics reminiscent of classic color and number card games, this game promises hours of fun.
Players start the game with 5 cards in hand. Each turn, they place a card on the central discard pile. The number or color must match the card on the discard pile. The game ends when someone has no cards left in hand.
However, in Match!, what players care about most is not placing their cards on the discard pile, but in a collection of cards in front of them. At the end of the game, these cards are the ones that score points.
A player can only place a card in their collection if it does not fit on the discard pile. Additionally, when placing a card in the collection, they must draw a new card from the deck. This means that although they accumulate points, they are also moving further from the end of the game.
On the other hand, if a card in the collection matches the discard pile when the turn comes around again, the player cannot play a card from their hand to add to the collection, so they must either get rid of a matching card or discard the card from their collection that meets the requirements.
Therefore, it is important to find the right balance between both paths, while also trying to make other players discard valuable cards from their collections.
