Data sheet
Catan Junior lets younger players enjoy the world of Catan. With this version, you can introduce children ages 6 and up to the universe of modern board games. Catan Junior keeps the classic Catan trading mechanics but adapts them for a younger audience. Set in a colorful pirate world, players will build ships and hideouts and may even call on the help of Coco the parrot to earn great rewards. The first player to control 7 hideouts wins the game. On each turn, one player acts as the captain, starting with the youngest. The captain rolls the die to determine which “this and that” tokens are distributed among the players. Then, they may build hideouts, launch ships, or ask Coco for help before passing the turn to the next captain. But beware of The Dread Pirate, who can ruin your plans. In Catan Junior, The Dread Pirate plays a role similar to the robber in the original Catan, but in a gentler way: when a 6 is rolled, she doesn’t steal — she simply blocks resource production. Players must carefully manage their wood, pineapples, sheep, swords, and gold to thrive. Resources come as tiles, making them easier for kids to handle. Building a ship requires wood and wool, while constructing a hideout also needs a sword and a pineapple. Turns follow the classic Catan structure: roll the dice, produce resources, trade, and decide whether to build or ask Coco for help. Although Catan Junior is designed for children, it’s also great fun for the whole family, keeping the essence of the original with high interaction and great replayability. Every game feels different, guaranteeing endless fun.
