Walkie-Talkie is a cooperative card game designed by Sheila Santos and Israel Cendero for 2 to 8 players. Games are very fast, lasting between 1 and 4 minutes depending on the number of players. The goal is to achieve the highest possible score by discarding all the cards in your hand. In Walkie-Talkie, quickly and efficiently transmitting and receiving information is key to maximizing your score!
To start playing, shuffle the 50 cards (each card has a letter on one side and a color on the other) and form two decks of roughly equal size. Flip one deck over and shuffle again so that letters and colors are mixed. Take the first two cards and place them so that one shows a letter and the other a color.
Ready to play? Get set for a few frantic minutes! Deal six cards to each player without looking at them and set the game duration at 30 seconds per player. Start the timer and... let the transmission begin!
In Walkie-Talkie, there are no turns—everyone plays simultaneously! The game ends when all players have discarded their cards or when time runs out. To get rid of a card, players must discard it to the correct deck and call out a valid code that links the letter and color in the center of the table. Almost anything goes—except repeating a word or a color name. The other players must approve the code for it to be valid; otherwise, there’s a penalty!
What if you get stuck? Use the codes “Swap” and “Pass.” “Swap” flips all the cards in your hand, and “Pass” lets you give your cards to the player on your left.
Fast-paced, chaotic games that guarantee lots of laughs! At the end, count the asterisks on the letter cards you played together to determine your score. If time ran out, subtract 1 point for each card left in your hand. In Walkie-Talkie, you don’t win or lose—just score points. The score table lets you compare your results with previous games.
